OUR MISSION

CME PURPOSE
The mission of The Foundation for Better Health Care is to strengthen the professional development of physicians to improve patient outcomes. Our CME program and activities are objectively evaluated using scientific research methodologies for their effectiveness and impact on physician competence, performance, or patient outcomes with the goal of improving the quality of medical care for patients.

CONTENT AREAS
The foundation’s current content areas include: dermatologic disorders, gastroenterologic disorders, HIV/AIDS, metabolic syndrome, musculoskeletal diseases, oncology, pain, primary care, and women’s health.

INTENDED AUDIENCE
The intended audience for FBHC activities includes primary care physicians, specialists in relevant content areas, and when appropriate, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists.

TYPES OF ACTIVITIES PROVIDED
The FBHC sponsors live activities and enduring materials, including:
  • Conferences, seminars, workshops, roundtables (small group problem-based colloquia)
  • Self-directed and distance learning materials (journal-based CME, monographs, CD-ROMs, online activities, Web/TeleRounds™)
  • Performance Improvement CME
  • Joint-sponsored and co-sponsored collaborative activities

EXPECTED RESULTS OF THE PROGRAM
The FBHC CME program strives to improve the quality of medical care by addressing gaps in physician competence, performance, and patient outcomes, measuring change in physician behavior, and validating best practices. By providing needs-focused, evidence-based, and patient-centered activities that are assessed for their impact and effectiveness, the FBHC is committed to moving clinicians from the knowledge gained or validated at our activities into action to provide better patient outcomes.
