Updates in Rheumatology WebRoundsTM: Featuring Arthur Kavanaugh (Archived Webcast)

You and your colleagues are invited to view an archived Webcast addressing key issues in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).This presentation will cover recent evidence describing the effects of DMARDs - and biologics, in particular- on the progression of RA and present guidelines for appropriate interventions in patients with RA.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize that very early diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can provide benefits, including sustained remission and reduced radiographic progression, to improve overall patient outcomes
  • Determine which patients with early RA are more likely to have severe disease outcomes in order to individualize therapy so that disease progression and disability are reduced
  • Discuss recent data demonstrating the use of anti-TNF agents to effectively treat patients with RA
  • Identify patients who are refractory to standard therapies and may benefit from newer biologic agents so that therapeutic strategies may be implemented to benefit individual patients
